Mind, Body, Soul

It takes all your MIND...

If there's one area that is hard to guard against damaging effects, it's that of the mind. We have worldly connections all around us through the internet, television, phones, radio, and the subcategories are endless with each avenue. There's so many distractions tugging at our attention and everything we allow to grab our attention, does get into our mind and with the moral compass changes in the world, majority of that goes against God, His word, and destroys our relationship with Him. That's when our minds become, let's say, crowded, and the daily battles and struggles begin.

To give God all our mind, that would take a conscious, whole hearted desire, to stay the path and FOCUS comes to my mind with this commandment. How can we unplug and really focus on God? In today's world, everyone has a phone and is connected to the "world" on a continual basis. This is from the moment we wake up to the moment we go to sleep, most are constantly checking their phones. Can you imagine how different our world would be if we replaced phones with God's word? If we carried our Bible instead of our phones, seeking, and relying on God's word to tell us what we need to know, how to make the best decision, how to live, dress, spend the money He provides, and even where our efforts should be given. Do our thoughts honor God?

And Body...

What we let in our minds, negative or positive, can affect our bodies in the same way. This also works vice versa, if our bodies are not functioning as designed by God, then it will affect our Mind negatively as well because we are struggling to cope. They're both connected and alter the other if there's a breakdown. It's just as important to watch what we put into our bodies and how we protect, guard, and carry it, same as our minds. Again, the world has plenty of influences the same as to how we should live, what we should drink, eat, and whether it's harmful or not. But if we seek Jesus, He is the way, the truth, and the light. John 14:6.

To the believer, God is very clear in His word how we should live and that includes our bodies. He commands in I Corinthians 6:19-20, What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. This is powerful and to know that truth that we tend to forget, we are bought with a price, a priceless sacrifice that Jesus offered to us when He took on our sins, in a death we deserve, when He became robed in flesh, living that perfect life on earth, denying the temptations, taunts, abuse, death upon a cross, but praise God He arose that third day to conquer death and is seated at the right hand of the Father. And yet, we can't resist the evils, unhealthy, harmful things we do or put into our body, where we were told, the Holy Spirit lives? Why? We fight the ole' flesh daily and that's why every day we have to die to self (Luke 9:23 KJV) but we also know that at the end of the day, we can't save ourselves and that's why we have to rely on the Lord. (Ephesians 2:9) There is hope and we can win daily battles, with the help of Christ (Philippians 4:13 KJV), we can overcome and make better choices every day.

... And Soul to Truly Honor God.

The more we have our mind and body in harmony with God, the more our souls will sing with peace and joy. That starts with being in prayer and reading His word daily. God tells us in 3 John 1:2, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. God is concerned for our bodies and our soul. To be a Child of God, we should desire to be healthy and not neglect or indulge of the body's sinful desires. If we do this, we are at our best to be a servant for God and His will in our lives but also the lives of others and the ways He can use us to reach the lost or hurting brother's and sister's in Christ. Ultimately, our soul will either live eternally with Him in Heaven, forever singing of His praises, or it will be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15 KJV). But there's hope in Jesus, and if we're washed in the blood of Christ, this is not the end and actually the best is yet to come.

All that said, there's ways we can change our daily lifestyle to get to the place God desires, healthier minds, bodies, and souls, that live for Him and have that peace that passeth all understanding (Philippians 4:7)

As detailed in my first blog, stress was a big factor in my health issues and controlling that was the first aspect I focused on to improve my overall health, physically and mentally.
